Choosing & Ordering FAQs

Find answers about choosing your flooring, ordering samples, measuring, wastage and placing your order.

How do I choose between the different types of flooring?

Consider the room, expected foot traffic, moisture exposure, underfloor heating, preferred appearance and whether you want a real wood or low-maintenance surface.

Engineered and solid wood provide the natural character of genuine timber. Laminate offers a practical wood or stone effect, while SPC click and glue-down LVT provide durable, water-resistant options in a wide range of designs. If you are unsure, our team can help you compare suitable products.

Which flooring is suitable for different rooms?

Most of our flooring types can be used across living rooms, bedrooms, dining areas, kitchens and hallways. Engineered and solid wood provide the character of genuine timber, while laminate, SPC click LVT and glue-down LVT offer practical alternatives in a wide choice of designs.

For bathrooms, SPC click LVT and glue-down LVT are suitable choices, as all our LVT ranges are waterproof.

Can I order flooring samples?

Yes. Samples can be ordered directly from the relevant product page using the sample button. They allow you to assess the colour, texture and finish in your own room before placing a full order.

We recommend viewing samples under both natural and artificial light, as appearance can change throughout the day.

How many free samples can I order?

You can order up to three standard flooring samples free of charge. If you would like to compare more products, additional standard samples are available for £1 each, up to the overall sample limit shown in your basket.

When will my flooring samples arrive?
We aim to dispatch sample orders within 24 hours and for them to arrive within approximately 48 hours. Royal Mail delays can occasionally occur, particularly during busy periods, so please check your emails for tracking updates.
How do I measure a room for flooring?
Measure the room’s length and width in metres, then multiply the two figures to calculate its area in square metres. For example, a room measuring 5m by 4m has an area of 20m². For irregularly shaped rooms, divide the space into smaller rectangular sections, calculate each area separately and add the results together.
How much extra flooring should I allow for wastage?

For a straightforward plank installation, an allowance of approximately 10% is commonly recommended for cutting and fitting waste.

Complex room shapes, diagonal layouts and rooms with several alcoves or obstacles may require a larger allowance. It is better to have a small quantity left over than to run short during installation.

How much wastage should I allow for patterned flooring?

Herringbone, chevron, basket weave and other patterned layouts usually require more cutting than a standard plank installation. An allowance of approximately 10–15% is commonly recommended, depending on the room shape and layout.

Your installer should confirm the required quantity before you order, particularly for complex rooms, borders or bespoke patterns.

How does the online flooring calculator work?

Enter your total required area in square metres, including wastage. The calculator rounds the quantity up to the next complete pack, ensuring the total pack coverage meets or exceeds the required amount.

Flooring is sold in complete packs, so the quantity supplied may cover slightly more than the area entered. Pack coverage varies between products and is shown on each product page. Please check your room measurements and wastage allowance before ordering.

Can I order now for delivery at a later date?

Yes. You can place and pay for your order in full to secure the available stock and arrange delivery for a suitable future date.

Our standard storage allowance is up to 12 weeks. Contact us if you require a later delivery date or an extended storage period.

Do you supply trade customers and large development projects?

Yes. We supply installers, contractors, property developers and other trade customers, alongside homeowners throughout the UK.

For large commercial, multi-unit or development projects, contact our team with the product requirements, total quantity and required timescales. We can help confirm product suitability, coordinate availability and prepare a project quotation.

Can I amend my order after it has been placed?

Contact us as soon as possible if you need to change the product, quantity, delivery details or delivery date. We will make the amendment where possible, provided the order has not already entered warehouse preparation or dispatch.

Once an order has been dispatched, changes may no longer be possible and the relevant delivery or returns terms may apply.
